João Luiz Dornelles Bastos is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Simon Fraser University and a social epidemiologist focused on health inequities. His research examines how discrimination and structural racism shape population health, with an emphasis on intersectional theory, measurement, and applied quantitative methods. He collaborates with interdisciplinary teams in Canada and internationally and teaches courses in epidemiology and exploratory data analysis.
